Day 4 - To Salzberg and Vienna

We arrived at Salzberg early for an orientation walk and then time to wander. What a beautiful city the birth place of Mozart is. We had a local specialist take us all around the town, this is always great because the insider knowledge adds so much more to what you are seeing.

We saw Motzart's birthplace.

Of course, another beautiful church.

The Crypt under the cathedral.

For such a small place there are 30 churches. Fortunately, all through Europe the churches are being preserved and used as museums.

Mozart in the square - how he does it I don't know.

There are horse carriages everywhere -

and then the clean up man whimsies furiously around and around the circuit.

As we waited in the square for our pick up a truck with a lady driver came into the square and proceeded to the arch which was set up with stalls. She insisted on goin through so the stallholders moved their things and she continued through. She must have had an inch spare on each side.

As we left Salzberg and headed through the Black Forest, the landscape became more and more alpine. It is really beautiful and there had been a fresh fall of snow on the distant mountains.

After quite a long drive, we arrived at Vienna quite late and we freshened up and headed off to a quite unusual restaurant. I think I will let the photos tell the story. Although I must mention that I got a certificate for my waltzing ability.

And last of all the entry to the ladies toilets -

There are photo walls of many famous people coming to dine here.

When we arrived there was a singing and clapping welcome. As it was Chuck's birthday (of course he's from the USA) he was invited to cut the ribbon to let us in and we all followed on the red carpet.

My very comfy room.
